MINOR Setback

Getting kind of overwhelmed with getting back into the swing of things. I know I could easily get some games up and running but I'm hitting kind of a philosophical wall.

I'm doing this as a learning experience, to get a lot of real-world programming knowledge. So I had originally intended to skip GDI, and start using DirectX. Not only did I want to skip GDI, I also wanted my first few projects to be used without an engine, using straight DX calls. I knew it would be messy, but I could look at it in the end and go "I created this from scratch."

However, I'm not getting anything done at the moment. I look at several people's coding for DX and I'm saying to myself "I have no idea what all this is." Ultimately, I think it will be better if I just start pumping some stuff out, with something to show for it. Yeah, I think that's what I'll do, screw the principle, I'm doing this for fun. Expect a Pong release very soon.
