ZOMG!
I am so unbelievably frustrated right now. I took precautions when I made Duck Slaughter so that I would never ever be in a position to lose all my old work. I backed up all the source files, bmp's, headers, text pads with sound and image id's, etc. onto two floppies, and 2 separate hard discs. I wanted to make sure that it was always on a floppy and computer in case anything happened. Well......here I am, with no game.
I had the game on my old computer, on a folder with other game stuff. I had another copy on my laptop. The two floppies were in a secure case in my room at my parent's house. The old computer's folder got replaced accidentally when I had to reinstall some other game info. The laptop copy got fried when my hard drive crashed and had to be reformatted. I had already made a copy on my new computer first, but like a total idiot didn't back up my c++ projects. The floppies were secured when I moved and placed in a box. But there were 3 piles of boxes, boxes that came with me, boxes that stayed with my parents, and boxes that were brought to me over thanksgiving. I have no idea what box it's in, or if it's here or in Colorado.
So basically I have a total kickass game with all the sprites, artwork, sounds, data structures, etc. somewhere near me, but with no way of finding it. This really pisses me off. I guess I will delay the emulated game for later.
On a more positive note, I got the sounds working. They are supposed to be loaded in 11 khz mono, but I found the DirectSound function to set the playback frequency so I fixed everything. Will probably post an update tomorrow.
