Hey Again!

Well, a lot has happened since my last post (not on the game dev front). I got a new job (lots of extra hours), went back to school, and found out I'm having a daughter. I pretty much stopped all game development projects since the New Year. I'm just now starting to miss the whole process and getting back into things.

I've been spending a lot of time here: http://kongregate.com?referrer=churchskiz .

It's this online gaming community for developers and gamers, with a whole bunch of addicting flash games. The games are right up my alley and I love the community so I thought it would be a good idea to pick up some flash knowledge and either port an old game (like Ted), or do something new.

I'm going to be working on a simple game just as something to throw up before I decide if I want to port Ted. From my initial thoughts, Flash is pretty cool for the menu type stuff, but the IDE, or lack of one, could make a big game very annoying. There is no type-sense or error checking or anything. If there is a problem with the code, it just doesn't work right. That is a huge turnoff for me, but I'll wait to close the book on it.

I updated the site with the latest Ted progress. It was about 95% done, only some final touches needed. I figured I better put it up because the demo on the site was from about 40% and I wanted to show off the amazing artwork that was put together by the team. You can grab the demo (a whopping 20mb), but the source won't be updated until the game is done.

Later!
