Progress

I'm impressed with how much progress I'm making on Duck Slaughter 2. I'm doing some pretty cool stuff and things that I thought would take weeks are only taking hours. I think this is really going to be a fun game. I was screwing around with the core gameplay and even though there aren't that many elements yet, the game is a lot of fun already.

I've implemented the blood particle effects already, the next task for particles is getting the body parts to explode out. In the first Duck Slaughter, I simply used a sprite. Every explosion looked exactly the same. In Duck Slaughter 2, this system will be dynamic. Shoot a duck in the head and his head will fly off squirting blood. Hit him in the body and watch all his parts fly out. Every kill will look different. The problem is that this requires a lot of know-how. Know-how that I thought would take a significant time to learn. However, I banged out the head particle in under 2 hours. It involves some matrix work to rotate the particles and what not, but DirectX extensions has made everything very easy. I think I'll have the rest of the body parts done in good time.
