Workin
DS2 is coming along nicely. I wanted my daughter to have fun with it while I work on it so I've replaced all ducks with flying horses and instead of the main character holding a big gun, my daughter is in a dress with a magic wand that shoots hearts. The particle system is started also, though admittedly all it does right now is shoot random colored stars when a heart hits the flying horse.
I decided while I was looking at the collision detection that I'll use multiple bounding boxes for each monster. This will not only improve the collision detections, but allow for better gore upon death and even some in-game functionality like head shots.
I would throw up the current demo but I'm a little worried that posting it in its current form would scare people into thinking I'm making a kids game. Pictures are everything and I don't want people to get a bad impression on the project because of the Disney graphics. Also, Meg from Kid Kombat and TTBSSL did some concept art for me a long time ago and the duck she drew is freaking awesome. I really want her to do the art for the main character as well. That will give me something to throw into the game and I'll feel a lot better about releasing a demo.
Also, I failed to mention in the last few posts that I got a Zune and all my games from here on out will be playable via PC, 360, Zune, and Windows 7 Phones. I am wondering how that will work for DS2 right now because it's a platformer and there's really no good method for movement outside of tilting the thing. We'll see....
Anyhoot, I am flooring my house so all my spare time is going into that. DS2 improvements will be a little slow for the next 2 weeks or so.
